Graeme Craig Smith (born 1 February 1981 in Johannesburg , Transvaal Province , South Africa ) is a South African cricketer and the current captain of the South African cricket team , having succeeded Shaun Pollock after the 2003 Cricket World Cup .A tall, left-handed opening batsman, on the 2003 South African tour of England he made double centuries in consecutive Test matches . He has also played county cricket for Somerset in the 2005 English cricket season . Smith also captained the team to victory on finals day to secure the Twenty20 Cup trophy, making 64 not out from 47 balls in the final . Graeme Smith had announced his retirement long before his team was beaten in the quarter-finals of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. He has decided to stick to his decision and bi adieu to 50-over ODI (One-Day International) Cricket .He will Continue playing Test matches.
In 2008 Graeme Smith played in the inaugural Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals . But in this season of IPL he will be playing for Sahara Pune Warriors .
